Before your first design
Your guide to
custom jewelry online.
From a first idea to a personal quote: how to start custom rings, pendants, or earrings with Kari, wherever you are in the United States.
Choose a starting point.
You don’t need a finished brief to begin. For a ring, start with the setting and stone shape you’re drawn to. For a pendant, consider whether you want a single focal stone or a design with several stones.
Use the online ring designer , pendant designer, or earring designer to explore the available choices. Notice what you like about a version before changing it: the proportions, the metal, the arrangement of the stones, or how understated or expressive it feels.
The digital preview communicates your idea. The final materials and construction are discussed with Kari before the piece is made.
What to include in a custom jewelry request.
- Your finished design: select “Get my custom price” inside the designer. The saved design reference and finished picture are included automatically; uploading a picture yourself is optional.
- Each stone’s size: confirm the carat weight or measurements shown in your design. If the form hasn’t received a size automatically, enter it for that stone. Include side stones as well as the center stone.
- Your contact details: name, email, and phone number are required so Kari can reach you.
- Helpful preferences: add a budget, timeframe, preferred contact method, and notes. Include ring size if known, pendant dimensions and any chain preferences, or whether you want a pair of earrings or a single stud. For earrings, enter carat weight per stone, not the total for the pair. Metal-only stud designs can be confirmed without stone sizes.
- Your inspiration: describe the occasion, a detail you want to change, or a question you’d like Kari to help with.
You can also open the quote form without attaching a Pencil design and describe your idea. If you have a reference picture or link, you can add it to that request.
What affects the price of custom jewelry?
Each piece combines specific materials and work. The type, size, and number of stones; the precious metal; the setting; and the construction details all contribute to the quote.
A visual design alone is not a final price. Stone sizes and your notes help Kari understand what you’re asking for and identify the details that still need to be confirmed.
Share a budget even if you’re still exploring. It gives the conversation a useful starting point. If a choice needs to change, discuss the options and their effect on the design and price with Kari.
What happens after you request a quote?
Kari reviews your design and contact details, then follows up by email or phone. You can discuss materials, refine the design, and talk through timing and delivery arrangements remotely.
If the jewelry is for a proposal, anniversary, or another date, mention that early. Timing depends on the design, materials, and work involved; Kari confirms the schedule directly.
Agree on the final specifications, price, timing, and delivery arrangements before moving forward. Submitting the form is a quote request, not a purchase, and no payment is collected on the site.
